Edara was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and started singing along with a tape of Lisa Lisa when she was only three. At nine, she was dancing and choreographing her own performances at the local YMCA. Professionally, Edara has been a dancer for Pharrell, Diddy, Rihanna, Ricky Martin, Cassie, Jason Derulo, Santigold, among others.
Her song, “Saw Red,” became the most requested song and went to #1 on the stations charts in Seattle in 2009 after a DJ at C89.5 Dance Radio Station started playing the song on air. Soon after she turned her attention to her band Shinobi Ninja. Edara became the lead singer and took the name Baby G.
Shinobi Ninja is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, known for high-energy performances and eclectic sound, blending music genres such as hip hop, punk, funk, metal, reggae, electronic, and rock. In 2015, Edara directed a video of the band’s song “What If Times.” The video won the award for Best Video at The MOVE Music Video Awards and was featured by Ebony.
Edara and Shinobi Ninja have released 4 studio albums, and tour extensively, appearing in festivals such as Summerfest, Afropunk and South by Southwest. They have performed alongside a variety of artists including Tom Morello(Rage Against The Machine) George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Erykah Badu, The Black Keys, Azealia Banks, Linkin Park, Slightly Stoopid, Collie Buddz, and Rise Against. Their songs have appeared in video games and major motion pictures. Rock Hood appeared in NBA2K12, which sold 5 million copies.
In 2010, Edara was featured as a singing coach on the Emmy-award winning MTV show, Made.
